Iksvaku dasa joined ISKCON in 1983. He is H.H. Jayapataka Swami’s disciple, having served in various capacities in Latin America, India, Malaysia and Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Australia and is a trained counselor with 15 years’ experience in the areas of domestic violence, youth-at-risk, migration services, crisis intervention, general counseling and acute mental health. His last position was as team leader and trainer of Mental Health support programs in Perth. Currently he is based in Sridhama Mayapur and serves in ISKCON’s Congregational Development Ministry as the Outreach Coordinator.
Vaisnava Life Counseling – A Practical Framework of Support for ISKCON Individuals and Congregations
This is a seminar presenting an essential theme in taking ISKCON into the future; how to better support the growth of our devotees and communities. Designed for those in leadership positions and with the interest in establishing a support system based on healthy Vaisnava relationships, the Vaisnava Life Counseling training offers a set of practical skills to support ISKCON devotees through effective principles of care, counseling techniques, communication skills and mediation models.Following the directives of our Vaisnava line, this workshop proposes to resource communities to effectively assist devotees into developing more fulfilling lives and managing personal or collective challenges. Considering the difficulties that as a society, and individually, we have encountered in the past, this seminar offers a positive alternative into the future of ISKCON devotees based on Srila Prabhupada’s directives for protecting and caring for devotees.
